Extra Credit

You can earn up to 50 extra points by learning species' Latin binomials (exam on Nov. 18 - more details will be given in lab). Also, five quizzes will be given during the semester; if you take all five, you have the opportunity to earn 25 extra credit points. Because there is an "extra" quiz, "make-up" quizzes are not given regardless of your reason for missing a quiz. Quizzes might not be announced ahead of time. You can, however, expect a quiz over plant families on September 2.

Grade Discrepancies

All grading discrepancies must be resolved within one week after the assignment/exam is returned to you.

Policies on Missed Exams, Attendance, and Academic Misconduct

If you know that you will be absence on the date of an exam, bring it to my attention within the first week of classes.  If you miss an exam because of illness or other emergency, you must provide appropriate verification to avoid receiving a zero for that exam.  You must take the Final Exam during the designated time (except in the case of conflict with other final exams).

Information presented in class and information in the text are meant to complement, not duplicate, each other.  Information that is presented only in class, or only in the text, is still fair game for exam questions.  Thus, you are strongly encouraged to both attend each lecture and complete the assigned readings.  You are also expected to attend each and every laboratory.

Academic misconduct will not be tolerated. For information on what constitutes academic misconduct, consult section 1-402 of the Student Code. Cheating on an exam or assignment will result in an F grade for the course.

Disability Accommodations

To obtain disability-related academic adjustments and/or auxiliary aids, students with disabilities must contact the Division of Rehabilitation-Education Services and me as soon as possible.
