CPSC 453: Principles of Plant Breeding

Course Description

This course will introduce the student to the principles and concepts involved in plant breeding. The students will be expected to have an understanding of basic genetics prior to enrolling in the class; this class will build on that knowledge, and the students will learn how that knowledge is applied to plant breeding.

Same as HORT 453.

Course Objectives

The students will:

  • learn to apply genetic principles to plant breeding
  • understand tools used by plant breeders
  • understand plant breeding methods used with different plant species.
