Transferring into the Department of Crop Sciences

How to transfer from within the College of Agriculture, Consumer and Environmental Sciences. (ACES)

It's easy to transfer into Crop Sciences from another major or curriculum within the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences. Transfer applicants are considered on the basis of admission requirements of Crop Sciences. To transfer, arrange an interview with the Undergraduate Teaching Coordinator, Frederic L. Kolb. He will fill out an advisor assignment form and arrange the transfer for you.

How to transfer from another University of Illinois college. (UIUC, but not ACES)

An intercollege transfer applicant is one who is currently registered in an undergraduate college at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and who wishes to be considered for admission to another undergraduate college at UIUC. Intercollege transfer applicants are considered on the basis of the intercollege admission requirements of the new college and availability of space in the chosen programs. This policy does not apply to the Graduate College or a professional college.

The campus has designated two periods each term for intercollege transfers. These are provided below:

Two weeks prior to the beginning of the Early Registration Period for each term. Curriculum changes will not be allowed after registration begins.

One week prior to the start of instruction for the term and through the first week of instruction. The UIUC Timetable for each semester provides specific dates for the ICT transferring periods.
If a student intends to apply for intercollege transfer, he/she should do so within these designated time frames. A student's access to certain courses is dependent upon his/her college enrollment. A student will not be permitted to make ICT or curriculum changes after they have completed early (on-line) registration.

In the College of ACES, intercollege transfer applicants are referred to departments. Some departments use a formal application process and others use the Collect ICT form. Which ever method is used, it is imperative that:

  1. the department contacts the Office of Academic Programs with the names of those students who were accepted into their departments and
  2. the applicant finalizes the intercollege process by "registering" in the Office of Academic Programs. This serves two purposes, it allows the OAP staff to electronically ICT the student using U of I Direct and it provides the opportunity to collect personal information from the student to build an advising file.

NOTE: Freshman students may only intercollege transfer after completing two semesters in the college they were admitted. Transfer students may intercollege transfer after completing one semester in the college they were admitted.
